Full Moon Update : the books are now in the hands of the printer

I’m thrilled to announce that this week I have successfully validated all the pages of the three books, and they are now in the hands of the printer. I’m excited to share that shipping will commence in August! 

Get ready to embark on a journey through the captivating world of vintage typography very soon. I did some final changes to the cover design and here is a preview of all the pages...

Finally no edge painting...

If you remember, I planned to do edge painting for the 3 books. Sadly, it seems many books are coming with edge painting in the coming months, and doing this would have delayed the printing to the end of October. I think you have waited enough to not add 3 months to the delivery! I hope you understand my decision.

Locking address

I will wait a little more before locking your address. Probably at the end of July, you will get a message from Bacerkit to confirm your delivery address, or to update it. Through this, we avoid delivery problems. I will update you about that soon.

Since I transitioned to freelance graphic design in 2007, I’ve never experienced a moment quite like this: I currently don’t have any graphic design client projects in progress. There are no signed contracts or upcoming plans. I’ve even decided to step away from a client I’ve worked with for 15 years. This situation brings me immense joy.

This newfound freedom allows me to dedicate my time to my true passion: vintage typography. As of now, my sole means of sustenance comes from selling original antique items and my own creations.  I’m currently working on a new edition of playing cards. Soon, I’ll be reaching out to designers for the upcoming letterpress calendar.

(Almost) Full Moon update : the 3td book ATLAS is finish

Hope you are fine and happy! 

The full moon was last Saturday night, and I really planned to send the update that night... But every time I open the InDesign file of the Atlas book, I want to change something, improve a page, re-ordering... But tonight, I think it is done! Little happy dance at 1h30 AM with my cats! 

I now have to proofread all the 3 books, check for the introduction pages, and finalize printing files etc`... but we are so close...

(Almost) Full Moon update : Book Z Monograms is finish, new planning

I missed the last full-moon update! The image above is monogram printing blocks I have found... Happy to say that's the second book is totally finished and I have added some extra elements like a colorful "navigation" to make it easier to find the right monograms you want... It is hard to explain here but I am sure it will totally make sense when you will have it in your hands.  

I am still working on the Atlas book (3) and I want to finish it by the end of this month, May, or early June. 

The printer told me they will need 6 to 8 weeks to print the 3 books which makes the delivery date (to me), will be the end of July. Then I will start fulfillment. This is the plan! More in the next full moon update...

Full Moon update : the books are not ready as planned...

I know that silence is never the solution, and I should have sent you this message a long time ago. 

Tonight is the full moon and the first day of spring. I would have liked to announce the upcoming shipment of the books but I underestimated the workload for the realization of this trilogy. I missed the date for the start of the printing and I am now waiting for a new retro-planning from my printer.

As things stand, the books won't be out for several weeks yet. The print will take about a month and a half, and I have at least another month to work on it. The beginning of the year was more than positive, with the development of my research activity for old objects and their sale, especially on Instagram. The advantage is that it gives me more material for the works, like these plates that I have just found and which are fascinating. Unfortunately, I don't have the whole collection but I will integrate the one I have in the monogrammed book even if this one is almost finished.

The Atlas book is the one that will still require a lot of work because I still have about half of the book to do. The cleaning of the old boards and the harmonization of the whole are huge tasks.

Why not launch the reissue of the Alphabet City book?

Unfortunately, the 3 books must be printed and produced at the same time to optimize manufacturing costs and limit transport costs. Therefore, I cannot relaunch this book's printing until the other two are finished.

New schedule

I give myself until the next full moon to finalize the content. Then comes the proofreading and finalization phase, followed by printing. I can't commit to exact dates for printing, so it's just an estimate: I hope to have the books in early June and start shipping then.

In any case, I will stick to this idea of a full moon to inform you more regularly and follow the stars to guide me in my work

Hope you are fine. First of all, wish you all the best for a creative 2023.

This a quick update to tell you everything is going as planned for the march release. Some more behind the scene...

For each Monograms page, after the scan, I need to clean each of them to get the proper contrast...

Also, I found something unique some weeks ago! I found the printing plates of the original monogram book! I needed to drive halfway across France to get them as they are in copper and can not be shipped but they are amazing... I will tell you soon what I decide to do with them but look at these beauties!

And I also found another book about monograms from 1889. It was for engraving on cutlery! I may include it in the book too... 

Also, I still have copies of my 2023 letterpress calendar so as you like typogtaphy, take a look at mrcup-shop.com for my other projects. 

And the Crossed Keys playing cards are available too !
